On December 16, 2015, Microsoft added new features to Windows 10 which included screen time extensions and the ability to manage settings for both Windows 10 PC and Mobile in one place. In August 2015, Microsoft Family Safety was renamed Microsoft Family Features and the family features offering was expanded beyond that of just family safety to include Windows Store funding. On May 14, 2012, Microsoft announced that Windows Live Family Safety will be renamed to Microsoft Family Safety and will be built-in as part of its Windows 8 operating system. On September 30, 2010, Windows Live Family Safety 2011 (Wave 4) was released as part of Windows Live Essentials 2011. They were removed from the Windows 7 release when they were moved to Windows Live. Web Filtering and Activity Reporting were previously features in Windows Vista Parental Controls. On December 15, 2008, Microsoft released an updated version 2009 of the software, and rebranded it as Windows Live Family Safety, removing it from the discontinued Windows Live OneCare family of products. After over a year and a half of testing, the final version was released on November 6, 2007. Microsoft has offered family safety features since March 2006 when a preview of Windows Live OneCare Family Safety was first offered to 3000 beta testers. Other changes to family safety features in Windows 10 include Windows Store purchase controls and the ability to find a child's Windows 10 Mobile device on a map. When parents turn on settings for their child, these settings are applied to every device that the child logs into with that Microsoft Account. A parent can manage settings for a child if both of their Microsoft Accounts are in the same family. Starting in Windows 10, a Microsoft Account is required to use the Microsoft family features. On July 17, 2020, Microsoft released Microsoft Family Safety on Google Play and App Store (iOS) as well. Microsoft family features (includes family safety features formerly known as Microsoft Family Safety, formerly Parental Controls in Windows 7 and Vista) is a free set of features available on Windows 10 PC and Mobile that is bundled with the Windows 10, Home edition operating system. Microsoft Windows, as Family Safety on Android, iOS Parental Controls ( Windows 7 & Windows Vista) The OneCare safety scanner team have been actively solving these problems, many of them registry-related.Microsoft Family Safety ( Windows 8 & Windows 8.1) Many users who have posted on the Product Feedback forum report script errors relating to Internet Explorer 7 (besides IE being the only browser supported by this service). It does not run periodic scans of the system, and does not provide features to prevent viruses from infecting the computer at the time, or thereafter. The virus scanner on the Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner site runs a scan of the user's computer only when the site is visited. The service also provides a virus database, information about online threats, and general computer security documentation and tools. The quick scan is faster than the full scan, hence that appellation. The "Quick Scan" only scans for viruses, only on specific areas on the computer. The "Full Scan" scans for viruses (comprehensive scan or quick scan), hard disk performance (Disk fragmentation scan and/or Desk cleanup scan) and network safety (open port scan). The user can choose between a "Full Scan" (which can be customized) or a "Quick Scan". It searches and removes viruses, improves a computer's performance, and removes unnecessary clutter on the PC's hard disk. The "Full Service Scan" looks for common PC health issues such as viruses, temporary files, and open network ports. The Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner must be downloaded and installed to your computer to scan your computer. Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner offered a free online scanning and protection from threats. The service was officially discontinued on Apand replaced with Microsoft Safety Scanner. However, Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner, under the same branding as Windows Live OneCare, was not discontinued during that time. On November 18, 2008, Microsoft announced the discontinuation of Windows Live OneCare, offering users a new free anti-malware suite Microsoft Security Essentials, which had been available since the second half of 2009. It was a free web service that was part of Windows Live. Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner (formerly Windows Live Safety Center and codenamed Vegas) was an online scanning, PC cleanup, and diagnosis service to help remove of viruses, spyware/ adware, and other malware.
